Coloniale Golf Club

A proposed brand identity for Coloniale Golf Club, drawing on coastal tradition and the motion of the swing to reach a new generation of golfers.

About the Brand

Coloniale Golf Club, founded in 1993, is a championship links-style course known for its pristine conditioning and welcoming atmosphere. As a new generation of golfers, younger, more active players drawn to the sport's social and lifestyle appeal, began discovering the club, its ownership was exploring whether the existing branding still fit where it was headed.

The brief: create a modern, athletic identity that still honored the club's established tradition.

The challenge: translate the energy and precision of a golf swing into a mark sleek enough to feel contemporary, without losing the elegance expected of a private club.

Logo Process

The mark grew out of studying a golfer's swing from multiple angles to find its most dynamic moment, then distilling that motion into a clean, modern silhouette rather than a traditional crest. Keeping the figure gender-neutral reinforced the shift toward a younger, more athletic membership.

Print Pattern

A crossed-clubs motif extends the mark into a supporting pattern, applied sparingly in the club's core maroon and hunter green. It nods to traditional crest and argyle patterns without copying either directly.

Branding

Set on Coloniale's Alberta course, the palette echoes its summer and fall colors, navy, burgundy, hunter green, and sage, grounded in cream. It blends the club's traditional feel with its newer, younger membership

Merch

Applied to merch, the mark shows two ways: the swing icon alone, stamped on a golf ball for a subtle monogram, and the full lockup embroidered on apparel where the name needs to read clearly.
